Hello Saanich Lacrosse community.
We're continuing to get ready for the start of the season. That means we need to recruit and develop our young officials.
It goes without saying that officials are critical to playing the sport. The Vancouver Island Minor Lacrosse Commission simply cannot run the league without them. Saanich has been lucky enough to produce sufficient officials for its own needs and to help with Peninsula and Victoria Esquimalt.
The website now has the latest information for officials (as far as we know). Please go to the Officials Information page. There are a few highlights you need to know.
One, the BC Lacrosse Association moved to RAMP registration for its officials. This will integrate BCLA's database with the RAMP scheduling and official assigning platforms. That should streamline allocation this season.
Two, returning officials should have received a registration link from BCLA with instructions. Returning officials can then sign up and pay for clinics using the same system. BCLA did not advise associations that it would have participants pay directly this season. The Association will develop a reimbursement process as soon as possible.
Please note that returning officials must attend a "refresher" clinic even if they do not advance a level (i.e., a Level 1 official from last season who wishes to stay at that level this season still must take the Level 1 clinic).
Three, associations are required to register new officials that wish to attend an Entry Level clinic. We are currently working with BCLA to confirm logistics of how that will work. New officials can pre-register with the Association so we can keep track of the number of new officials that wish to attend.
The Officials Information page should have everything you need to get started.
Please contact headofficial@saanichlacrosse.com if you have questions.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Saanich Lacrosse Association
