Hello Saanich Lacrosse community.
We've had excellent response to the Skills and Drills sessions so far. Now it is time to turn our attention to coach recruitment for the 2025 season.
Coaches are critical to the Association's program. Recruiting a sufficient number of certified coaches directly impacts the number of teams we can form at each age group. The Association would ideally like to have three to four coaches for each team. That means we need to find 36 to 48 volunteers each season!
The Association is looking for strong role models who can teach the game and build strong teams. This includes strong communication , interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills as well as ability to develop players from a broad range of skill and experience levels. The goal is to provide a positive lacrosse experience so players will return season-after-season. Strong coaching is the foundation for building love of the sport.
The Association will work with the local lacrosse community to develop supplemental minor sports leadership and technical lacrosse training for its coaches prior to the season. We want to support new and existing coaches and help them develop as their players progress through the sport. We intend to offer a series of seminars to grow the Association's coaching group. This will position current and future Tigers for success.
New to lacrosse? No coaching experience? No problem. The Association can register you for a coaching clinic appropriate for the age of your player. We can also connect you with experienced coaches so you are supported as you take on the role.
Please fill out the Coach Application form. You can find it at https://saanichlacrosse.com/form/6947. It can also be found under the "Coaches" tab on the Saanich Lacrosse website if this link does not work.
The Association will accept applications until Friday, December 20, 2024 for U11 through U17. It will accept U7 and U9 coach applications until March 30, 2025.
Please contact Scott Barillaro, President and A/Head Coach, at president@saanichlacrosse.com if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Saanich Lacrosse Board
